I Never Stop Qualifying for the Job

As the company grows, the requirements for me professionally, physically and emotionally also grow. I can still remember how we started out 10 years ago, working on one project at a time as there were only just a few of us working then and serving only Cagayan de Oro clients. Now, we are working on several projects for several clients and several locations at a time. We used to have only the software and applications services but now we are working on web and SEO services. It’s amazing how something so little has grown to a company that we have now. Indeed, patience, hard work and a lot of team work is necessary to succeed in this industry.

I am never complacent though with whatever there is now as I always believe that the best of things is yet to be created in as much as the best song is yet to be written and the best work of art has to be painted or sculpted. For me, the best Philippine outsourcing company is yet to emerge. With our current team, existing partners and with our will to continuously grow and succeed, I know this can be done and this will happen. We are also now even more rigorous in our processes in hiring and retaining people. Rigorous – not ruthless. We make sure we keep on board the right people on the bus so we are always on the right path. There will be bumps and potholes along the way, this happens in any journey but I know there’s always a way to fix it and learn to make sure not hit those obstacles in the future again. With the better team that I have now, I know we can make it to our destination quicker and have fun along the way!

Before, my focus was to learn more technical things. Then my need to acquire more knowledge grew to client handling, financial management, obligations & contracts, team and staff management. This time, I have to keep up with all of these aspects all at the same time and I’m enjoying every moment of it. There are moments that I sometimes would feel like vomiting because of the stress and pressure (no, not attributed to high BP) but then again, it’s all part of the job – I have to do things I don’t like in order for me to enjoy the things that I do like and working in the IT field is indeed the latter for me.

I am a work in progress – as a professional and as a person and will continue to be a work in progress – what’s important is – there is progress. I love my job! I love my life!
